A HEARTFELT THANK YOU!

Since we began our Capital Campaign in 2008 we have raised over $2.5M.  This has enabled us to re-tile the Convent roof, replace the Convent boiler and water heater, make the Convent accessible and re-lead the second floor windows.

At St Marguerite's Retreat House we have re-leaded the windows, replaced the water heater and boiler, and made the house accessible.

Both buildings have been repaired in accordance with their historic status.

This year, we replaced our 114-year-old septic system. The cost of the project was covered by your donations and by generous grants.

All this could not have been achieved without your kindness and your belief in our mission.

OTHER ITEMS ON OUR CSJB CAPITAL CAMPAIGN WISH LIST:

The Convent Exterior
Historic architecture firm Connolly and Hickey has given us an estimate of $1 million to repair the white stucco exterior of the Convent. The harsh weather of New Jersey has caused the stucco to crack and fall away in many places, which is causing damage and rusting to the metal interior structure of our 1913 building. The Convent is an architectural treasure as well as a place of prayer and sanctuary, and we hope to preserve its beauty for many generations to come.

St. Marguerite's Roof:
We are hoping to raise $500,000 to replace the 114-year-old roof at St. Marguerite's. Thanks to generous donors, we have already raised over $70,889.00.

The Convent Cemetery
Our peaceful Convent cemetery, where generations of Sisters, Oblates, Associates, family, and friends have been laid to rest, is in desperate need of repair to its walls, lich gate, and crucifix. The historic site has been battered by the harsh New Jersey weather since 1917, and is also suffering from a drainage issue that needs to be addressed. Estimated cost of repair to our cemetery is $400,000.

Thank you for supporting our ministries of retreat and spiritual direction which are needed more than ever in today's world.

The State of New Jersey stopped giving grants for repairs to religious structures in 2018, so this has taken away over half our funding for repairs and restorations. The COVID crisis has also negatively impacted our funding for these projects.
